Job Summary
Operate a skid steer safely and efficiently on asphalt paving and site development projects, performing base preparation work including grading, fine grading, trimming, and shaping aggregate materials. Load, move, and distribute aggregate, millings, and other construction materials while maintaining equipment and performing basic repairs as needed. Communicate regularly with crew members and subcontractors to ensure work is completed on schedule and within budget, and identify and resolve issues that arise during construction projects. Provide on-the-job training to new operators as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- Vocational training in heavy equipment operation
- 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment
- Experience in a construction setting
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to analyze project data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Experience with government contracts and compliance
