Job Summary

Conduct daily opening and closing procedures on the mountain, maintain safe access between patrol stations, and provide first aid care to guests requiring assistance. Perform rope rescue skills, shovel heavy snow, and safely transport patients in toboggans down expert trails. Recognize and correct safety hazards, communicate weather and slope conditions to guests, and complete required check-off sheets and scenarios. Maintain clean workstations, keep training records current, and pass federal and state background checks for avalanche mitigation. Work 40 to 48 hours weekly, including weekends and holidays, under extreme weather conditions while representing a model for safe skiing.

Required Qualifications

  • CPR certification
  • Must be able to pass federal and state background checks for the use and handling of explosives for avalanche mitigation
  • Must possess the desire to learn and be involved with a class A avalanche area and its mitigation practices
  • Must be well groomed and present a good public image
  • Good physical condition as this position requires skiing, hiking, shoveling, lifting, and carrying
  • Willingness to work during extreme weather conditions
  • Safety orientated
