Job Summary
Provide individual, family, and group ski and snowboard instruction to participants with disabilities using adaptive techniques and equipment. Uphold safety protocols while ensuring individuals utilize appropriate gear in a caring environment. Complete required documentation after lessons and communicate clearly with staff, participants, parents, and management. Build strong relationships with families and community partners to ensure high customer satisfaction. Deliver professional instruction in varied weather conditions, including extremes, while lifting adaptive equipment up to 50 lbs. This seasonal role at the National Ability Center in Park City, Utah, supports a national movement to build an Adaptive Nation through safe, fun, and effective snow sports programming.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to demonstrate intermediate to advanced skiing and/or riding skills
- Must be able to attend mandatory training sessions that begin late November
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to deliver professional snow-sport instruction in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme weather, for extended periods of time
- Must be able to safely lift adaptive equipment up to 50 lbs
- This position requires work on weekends and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- PSIA or AASI certification, or experience teaching ski and/or snowboard lessons
- Experience working with people with disabilities of all ages
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Proficiency with American Sign Language
- Proficiency in Spanish
- Knowledge of a variety of disabilities and ability to communicate effectively and connect with participants and their families
- Ability to adapt and use innovative solutions to provide personalized experiences for every participant based on their individual needs and goals
- Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity
- Ability to demonstrate patience and provide concise and effective feedback
- Strong communication skills & timely response with correspondence
- Ability to be flexible, creative, and adaptable to situations and assignments
- Ability to support program needs with solution-oriented initiative
- Ability to positively receive and provide feedback and job coaching for development of self and others
- Demonstrated ability to follow all policies and procedures with the utmost emphasis on prioritizing risk management and safety at all times
