Job Summary
Monitor facility policies and regulations during public skates at the South End, West End, and Victoria Road recreation centres to ensure patron safety and well-being. Enforce safe on-ice practices through effective verbal communication and conflict resolution while addressing on-ice situations professionally. Maintain personal skating equipment, including skates and a CSA-approved helmet, and remain active standing or skating for extended periods in cold environments. This part-time role runs from September 2026 to the end of March 2027, scheduled for up to 20 hours per week including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must hold current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, provide a satisfactory Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check, and be at least 16 years of age.
Required Qualifications
- Skating proficiency and knowledge of safe on-ice practices
- Effective verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work in a cold environment and remain active, standing and/or skating for extended periods
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and organizational skills
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
- A satisfactory Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to provide and maintain personal skating equipment, including skates and a CSA-approved helmet
- At least 16 years of age
