SIU Field Investigator

Job Summary
Special Investigator conducts basic to moderately complex claims investigations on potentially suspect/inflated auto, workers’ compensation, and commercial claims across multiple lines of business. Responsibilities include compiling and analyzing information from internal and external sources, conducting interviews, hiring independent contractors, referring claims to law enforcement as required, investigating claims both inside and outside the home office, preparing summary reports, and communicating with industry and law enforcement fraud agencies. Travel is required in and around the Greensboro, NC area; role primarily works from home with travel. Requires collaboration with claim staff and potential court appearances as a witness; bilingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of related work experience required, 4+ preferred
- Ability to travel as necessary to satisfactory complete job responsibilities
- Prior experience in some aspect of law enforcement, claims handling and/or criminal investigation preferred
- Strong investigative skills along with ability to work effectively with members of the claim staff and the law enforcement community
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the creativity to recognize potential fraud and develop a reasonable plan for investigating potential fraud cases
- Proficient and effective use of various computer software applications and the ability to adapt to new technologies
