Job Summary

Site Superintendent for a Vancouver, BC-based commercial construction role. Responsibilities include pre-construction management, developing and maintaining the master project schedule with input from subcontractors, reviewing contracts with the Project Manager, assisting with trade subcontractor selection, conducting constructability reviews, and managing on-site construction operations. Lead daily site activities, ensure adherence to the Master Contract and Subcontractor contracts, drive productivity and on-site reporting, maintain site safety programs, manage permits and inspections, coordinate with the Project Manager and owner meetings, oversee turnover and commissioning planning, and oversee warranty activities. Requires an undergraduate degree or diploma in construction management or engineering (preferred), First Aid/CPR/WHMIS certification, valid driver’s license, 5+ years in construction, familiarity with OHSA/WCB, Budgeting and scheduling expertise, and ability to travel within Canada and relocate if needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or another relevant field preferred
  • Certification of First Aid/CPR, WHMIS
  • Possess valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry, preferably Commercial construction management
  • Strong familiarity with contract administration, understanding drawings, specifications, architectural and engineering standards and building practices, including building codes
  • Full understanding of mechanical and electrical installations, including commissioning and handover
  • Excellent budgeting, costing, and scheduling skills
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing all disciplines, internal employees, and external sub-trades
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated through speaking to groups of employees on site, and communicating to a variety of stakeholders including clients, management, and site employees
  • Travel to site will be required; travel within Canada as directed
  • Ability to relocate to projects and offices within Canada and elsewhere according to Company resource requirements an asset

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience managing multi-discipline teams on commercial construction sites
  • Knowledge of OHSA, WCB, building codes
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, scheduling, and subcontractors
  • MS Project, Plan Grid, Bluebeam, electronic document management systems experience
  • Travel to site within Canada; relocation within Canada/assets
