Site Safety Specialist

Job Summary
Conduct workplace inspections, safety observations, Job Hazard Analyses, and risk assessments to identify and reduce hazards. Support the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the site's Health and Safety Management System while promoting a Safety First culture through employee engagement and coaching. Participate in incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action development. Monitor corrective actions, maintain compliance with OSHA and ISO 45001 requirements, and assist in internal audits and regulatory inspections. Utilize safety management systems to manage records and assist in developing safety training programs. Build collaborative partnerships across Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and leadership to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting health and safety programs within an industrial, manufacturing, recycling, mining, or similar heavy industrial environment
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, ISO 45001, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation practices
- Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, employee training, and workplace hazard assessments
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Must meet ITAR and NAID requirements
- Ability to work throughout an active industrial manufacturing environment, including walking production areas, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Occasional travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred
- ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification preferred
- Experience with Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) preferred
- Experience using EHS Insight or similar safety management software preferred
