Site Safety Officer – Warehouse Automation

Job Summary
Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments while leading the day-to-day implementation of WHSE initiatives across a multi-contractor automation project. Facilitate site inductions, toolbox talks, and pre-start meetings; review Safe Work Method Statements and permits. Investigate incidents, support corrective actions, and maintain safety reporting systems. Champion a proactive safety culture by influencing stakeholders, managing subcontractor onboarding, and participating in continuous improvement committees. Based full-time in Tarneit on a 12-month fixed-term contract transitioning to permanent.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, WHS, OHS or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a site-based safety position
- Experience working within construction, industrial, manufacturing, commercial projects, fit-out or related environments
- Exposure to large-scale projects involving multiple contractors and concurrent work fronts
- Demonstrated experience conducting WHSE audits, inspections and incident investigations
- Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management principles and safety management systems
- Proven ability to influence safe behaviours and build accountability across diverse stakeholder groups
- Strong communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills

- Australian Driver's Licence
Desired Qualifications
- Experience within automation, industrial equipment, manufacturing, commissioning or similar environments
- Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), isolation processes and electrical safety practices
- A resilient, adaptable mindset and a genuine passion for creating safer workplace
