Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO)

Job Summary

Lead site safety inspections, hazard analysis, and toolbox talks to ensure all activities comply with OSHA standards and federal regulations. Implement and maintain the site-specific APP while enforcing safety protocols and addressing unsafe behaviors immediately. Oversee documentation management, including SDS, incident logs, and corrective actions, and serve as the liaison between the Prime Contractor, government representatives, and workers. Lead incident investigations to prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions. Monitor structural concrete work to ensure safe practices are followed at all times. Maintain accurate training records and certifications for all workers.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Course
  • At least 5 years of full-time construction industry safety experience
  • At least 3 years of experience with a valid CSP or CSHT certification
  • A degree in Occupational Safety and Health (or related field) from an accredited university or college
  • Demonstrated experience managing site safety on active construction projects
  • Familiarity with 29 CFR 1926 and federal construction safety standards
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage safety responsibilities for the duration of the project

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting safety efforts on federal government construction projects
  • Familiarity with VA project protocols and documentation standards
  • Experience with structural concrete repair work and its related safety considerations
