Job Summary
Conduct daily safety inspections, hazard analyses, and toolbox talks to ensure all site activities comply with OSHA standards and federal regulations. Develop and maintain the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan while overseeing safety documentation, incident logs, and corrective action records. Lead incident investigations, enforce safety protocols immediately, and serve as the primary liaison between the Prime Contractor, government representatives, and subcontractors. Maintain accurate training records and certifications for all on-site workers. This role requires an OSHA 30-Hour course and current CHST, CSP, or equivalent certification, with a competitive hourly rate of $45–65/hr for a federal contract at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Course
- Current professional safety certification, one of the following: CHST – Construction Health & Safety Technician, CSP – Certified Safety Professional, OHST – Occupational Hygiene & Safety Technician, ASP – Associate Safety Professional, GSP – Graduate Safety Practitioner, STSC – Safety Trained Supervisor Construction, Or a USACE-approved equivalent
- At least 5 years of full-time construction industry safety experience
- At least 3 years of experience with a valid CHST or CSP certification
- A degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated experience managing site safety on active construction projects
- Familiarity with 29 CFR 1926 and federal construction safety standards
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and manage all safety responsibilities on site

- Experience working on projects with complex or phased scopes of work
