Job Summary
Analyze system designs to reduce failure modes and establish robust observability systems including logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing. Collaborate with development and service engineers to shape architecture, define SLAs, and resolve critical incidents while acting as a Subject Matter Expert on Engineering Operations. Improve application performance and repair systems by assessing solutions in uncertain situations and working independently within a geographically dispersed team. Respond to emerging issues, implement mitigation plans, and partner with backend services teams to enhance reliability, efficiency, and scalability across streaming platforms.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software development
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Solid engineering and coding skills
- Strong data structure knowledge
- Ability to write high-performance, production-quality code
- Experience building service-oriented APIs and cloud services
- Experience designing, implementing, and deploying microservices
- Extremely technical, hands-on server software experience
- Proficient in Golang
- Proficient in JavaScript
- Ability to quickly learn new languages
- Experience in Linux environments
- Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals and internals
- Understanding of file systems
- Understanding of modern memory management
- Understanding of threads and processes
- Understanding of the user-kernel space divide
- Strong understanding of large-scale distributed systems in practice
- Understanding of multi-tier architectures
- Understanding of application security
- Understanding of monitoring
