Job Summary

Oversee technical teams executing daily maintenance and repair work plans to meet performance standards, safety, and schedule requirements. Lead troubleshooting and complex repairs for generating assets, including BOP and SCADA communications, while performing switching at substations and conducting inspections. Act as a technical expert coaching less skilled members and auditing quality of work execution alongside periodic safety walks. Support the Operations Manager with resource allocation, inventory management, report creation, and TECO transactions. Manage frontline operations staff and external contractors, ensuring compliance with site policies and continuous improvement initiatives. This on-site role at Spinning Spur 1 in Vega, Texas, requires 80% field time for hands-on troubleshooting and 20% office time for administrative tasks. Candidates must possess advanced troubleshooting skills, a valid driver's license, and experience in renewable energy technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Senior Technician or 3 years in a similar Lead Technician role
  • Must possess a valid current driver's license
  • Must be able to successfully meet organizational requirements to operate motor vehicles
  • Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Understanding of operational site performance and relevant operational KPIs
  • Knowledge of EDFR Policies and procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings of associated renewable energy technologies
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of key safety concepts and work practices
  • Good communication and meeting facilitation skills
  • Ability to stand, climb, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to talk or listen
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights (wind turbine generators only)
  • Ability to work in a mechanical environment
  • Ability to operate company vehicles (field trucks) both on site as well as on public roads and highways
  • Must have a current driver's license with a good DMV printout
  • Must be able to demonstrate that an individual is mechanically inclined
  • Must be able to demonstrate good work habits, including but not limited to attendance, and maintaining a neat and orderly work environment
  • Must be able to perform the daily assigned work
  • Must be able to assist with schedules, pulling on appropriate resources
  • Must be able to ensure that proper preventive and corrective actions are taken
  • Must be able to lead technical teams by overseeing their execution of daily maintenance and repair work plans
  • Must be able to ensure effective communications between field technicians and the operations manager
  • Must be able to assist the operations manager with performance of QC assessments of work by technical team
  • Must be able to serve as the technical expert in troubleshooting, resolving complex repairs
  • Must be able to check the quality of work execution and coach the less skilled team members on the assigned tasks
  • Must be able to act as a lead and assist field technicians with HV operations
  • Must be able to execute scheduled & unscheduled maintenance of generating assets, including BOP and SCADA communications
  • Must be able to successfully perform switching at substations, substation inspections and maintenance activities
  • Must be able to support operations manager with planning and allocation of available resources
  • Must be able to conduct inventory management activities including research associated with spare parts and specialty tools needs
  • Must be able to assist with creating, reviewing, and approving management reports, Work Requests and performing TECO transactions
  • Must be able to assist operations manager with all safety aspects at the site including performing periodic safety walks to drive the highest safety standards and safety compliance
  • Must be able to drive continuous improvement and performance improvement campaigns projects to improve operational KPIs
  • Must be able to act as a backup responsibility to the Operations Manager
  • Must be able to provide technical oversight of frontline operations staff
  • Must be able to provide support in overseeing external contractors
  • Must be able to accommodate training needs
  • Must be able to assist Site Manager in overseeing activities performed by contractors and vendors
  • Must be able to work 20% of time in the office environment
  • Must be able to work 80% of time outside of the office, in the field
  • Must be able to attend mandatory five (5) week training and certification course at the start of their employment
  • Must be able to travel to Albert Lea, MN for training
  • Must be able to work at the Spinning Spur 1 site located in Vega, Texas
  • Must be able to perform advanced troubleshooting and repair activities
