Job Summary
Lead the local data center support team by managing tactical and strategic activities focused on continuous improvement and 100% uptime. Execute daily services including remote hands, customer installs, and service requests while acting as the escalation point for internal and external client inquiries. Provide 24x7 on-call emergency response for incident management and maintain mechanical and electrical infrastructure per manufacturer recommendations. Manage vendor contracts, negotiate agreements, and oversee capital improvement projects to maximize revenue space and ensure safety compliance. Develop and track operational budgets, monitor service level metrics, and lead staff development programs to standardize methodologies across the extended operations team.
Required Qualifications
- Strong management and leadership skills gained through experience managing people, process, and technology
- Working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networks, storage, and data cabling
- Working knowledge of data center critical systems, including: diesel generators, UPS systems, fuel systems, switchgear, power distribution equipment, chillers, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression and building monitoring systems
- Experience with negotiating and managing local vendor agreements
- Ability to make solid business decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Display confidence in client-facing situations; with experience dealing with Techs to C Level management
- Team player with excellent consultative communications skills, proven ability to work effectively with internal/external clients, vendors and consultants
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent experience
- 10 years of data center support & facilities experience in mission critical environments with 5 years in a supervisory/management role
