Job Summary

Manage rail switching operations by coordinating administrative activities, maintaining billing and operational records, and establishing policies that align with federal, company, and customer requirements. Analyze daily records including railcar counts, worker timekeeping, and absenteeism to monitor department activities and productivity. Supervise subordinates by interviewing, hiring, training, and directing staff while ensuring safety audits and adherence to state and federal regulations. Resolve customer concerns regarding railcar movements, oversee inventory and purchasing, and prepare monthly cost reports, billing, and FRA data. Work shift and/or overtime hours during the week and weekends as dictated by operations to ensure consistent attendance and coverage.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • six months to one-year related experience and/or training
  • equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Microsoft Word Word Processing software
  • valid motor vehicle operator's driver license
  • willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment
  • Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by TGS at all TGS locations
  • Must take and pass the required examinations for the described position to properly maintain competency and skills levels
  • Must be willing to work shift and/or overtime hours during the week and/or weekends as dictated by operations
