Job Summary
Conduct continuous site inspections (minimum 80% in the field) to treat and report discrepancies, immediately acting on unsafe acts or conditions. Assist the Outage Manager in developing Daily Outage Reports, updating management displays, and leading daily toolbox talks. Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements, participate in incident investigations, and ensure compliance with GE Vernova Life Saving Rules and site EHS plans. Liaise with staff to follow up on deviation closures and lead by example in adhering to all safety protocols. Requires a registered CHSO with three years of power station experience, relevant safety certifications, and strong facilitation skills. Full compliance verified through field audits.
Required Qualifications
- National Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management or Environmental Health from an accredited institution or college
- Minimum 3 years experience as SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions as a Registered CHSO (Construction Health Safety Officer) in Power Station
- A recognized safety certification (minimum: of 2 weeks training) (e.g. SAMTRAC / Modern SHEQ Management course)
- OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) Act and Regulations Certification
- COID (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases) Act Certification
- First Aid training Certificate level 1
- Good level of English language (both written and spoken)
- Strong facilitation skills
- Interpersonal, supportive and responsive skill
- Demonstrated team management ability in matrix environment
- Good listening skills
- Shall be registered with Statutory Body, SACPCMP, as CHSO or CHSM
