Job Summary
Conduct continuous site inspections (minimum 80% field time) to treat and report discrepancies, immediately acting on unsafe acts and conditions. Assist the Outage Manager in developing Daily Outage Reports, updating management displays, and leading point-of-work risk assessments. Ensure full compliance with GE Vernova Life Saving Rules, DIR-057, and site disciplinary procedures by reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and incident documentation. Liaise with staff to follow up on deviation closures and present daily toolbox talks. Maintain the Outage EHS Management System through field audits and incident investigation support. Requires National Diploma in Safety Management, 3+ years as a registered CHSO, and relevant certifications including First Aid. Relocation assistance provided.
Required Qualifications
- National Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management or Environmental Health from an accredited institution or college
- Minimum 3 years experience as SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions as a Registered CHSO (Construction Health Safety Officer) in Power Station
- A recognized safety certification (minimum: of 2 weeks training) (e.g. SAMTRAC / Modern SHEQ Management course)
- OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) Act and Regulations Certification
- COID (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases) Act Certification
- First Aid training Certificate level 1
- Shall be registered with Statutory Body, SACPCMP, as CHSO or CHSM
- Good level of English language (both written and spoken)
- Strong facilitation skills
- Interpersonal, supportive and responsive skill
- Demonstrated team management ability in matrix environment
- Good listening skills
