Job Summary
Manage day-to-day operations of the after-school program on the assigned school district campus, including supervision of children and development of curriculum based on student and parent needs. Direct teaching staff, maintain safe teacher-to-child ratios, and conduct systematic observations and evaluations of each child. Ensure full compliance with licensing regulations (Title 22/Title 5), Federal Food Program requirements, and YMCA personnel policies while managing daily, weekly, and monthly recordkeeping. Prepare daily schedules covering academics, enrichment, and recreation, and communicate with parents through newsletters and updates. Drive to the business office for administrative tasks and other sites to maintain ratios, while supporting the Program Director with staff onboarding and training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 12 semester units in ECE or CD
- 6 units can be substituted for recreation, arts & humanities, human services
- 3 semester units in Administration or Staff Relations
- AA or Bachelor with 3 units in ECE, CD or school-age child courses
- 3 units in administration or staff relations
- A valid Site Supervisor permit issued by California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- Strong character values
- Strong communication skills
- Emotionally mature
- Current approved EMSA First Aid, Adult, Infant, and Child CPR certifications (8 hours)
- Course in Preventive Health and Safety Practices
- Proof of Immunizations: TB, Influenza (limited exceptions), pertussis, and measles vaccination
- Reliable Transportation
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Technologically advanced
- Previous experience working with school age children in a group setting (preferred)
