Job Summary
Lead and oversee daily afterschool program operations, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children. Supervise, support, and provide guidance to Program Counselors and volunteers, including training and performance feedback. Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and applicable NJ childcare licensing, health & safety requirements. Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners. Coordinate program activities, special events, field trips, facility use, and related setup and cleanup. Monitor program participation and effectiveness while developing activities that strengthen the program. Report Monday through Friday from 2:30pm to 6:00pm. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the Perth Amboy community for over 110 years, focusing on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CPR/First Aid certification
- TB test
- health clearance
- required NJ childcare licensing trainings
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Child Development, Education, Recreation, or a related field
- 2–4 years of experience working in childcare, youth development, afterschool, or a related program
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to supervise and support staff while working independently and as part of a team
- Bilingual Spanish/English
