Job Summary
Prepare breakfasts and snacks, cook and deliver lunches from commercial kitchens, wash dishes, and maintain kitchen sanitation. Support Site Cook 2 with food preparation, delivery, serving, dishwashing, and cleaning. Pick up cooked lunches from Head Start sites and deliver meals to classrooms while submitting accurate records for CACFP. Follow recipes and cycle menus to ensure consistent, quality food for children, maintaining appropriate documentation and respecting confidentiality. Perform light cooking for large and small groups while using kitchen equipment including ranges, ovens, and dishwashers. Frequently drive in all weather conditions to Agency and Early Head Start sites. This fulltime position offers growth opportunities through hands-on experience and education.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six months of experience in food service
- Valid driver license
- Insured vehicle available for use on the job
- Satisfactory drive record for the previous three years
- Successful registration with the Central Background Registry of the Child Care Division
- CPR/First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Food Handlers Card or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Pass pre-employment physical examination
- Pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings
- Experience with light cooking, and preparing food, for large and small groups
- Demonstrated proficiencies with Microsoft Office (including Outlook), videoconferencing platforms, and Web Tools
- Excellent organizational, record keeping, and math skills
- Possesses working knowledge of program policies and procedures and CACFP regulations
- Close vision
- Ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for the majority of the workday
- Ability to drive in all weather conditions to Agency Head Start and Early Head Start sites
