Job Summary
Oversee all on-site construction activities for a gas-fired power plant as the owner's representative, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications. Coordinate with EPC contractors, engineers, and inspectors to monitor progress, resolve field issues, enforce safety and compliance requirements, and provide regular project reporting. Independently assess contractor work quality using deep knowledge of power plant systems and interpret EPC documents, specs, P&IDs, and drawings. Lead multi-contractor environments with strong safety leadership through audits and documentation, while maintaining relationships with Invenergy, contractors, and regulators. Capable of working in energized electrical environments, including substations and collection systems. Requires minimum 10 years of power generation experience, valid driver's license, and current OSHA certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of power plant systems (turbines, HRSGs, generators, HV/MV, BOP)
- Strong ability to interpret EPC documents, specs, P&IDs, SLDs, drawings, and datasheets
- Working knowledge of key codes and standards (ASME, NEC, IEEE, OSHA, environmental)
- Experience with owner's engineer roles, QA/QC surveillance, and third-party inspections
- Strong leadership in multi-contractor, multi-discipline project environments with sound escalation judgment
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships across the entire project team to include Invenergy, other contractors' personnel, and regulators
- Strong safety leadership, ensuring contractor compliance through audits, documentation, and enforcement
- Capable of working in and around energized or potentially energized electrical environments, including substations, collection systems, and associated facilities, in accordance with applicable safety rules and procedures
- Minimum 10 years of power generation or heavy industrial construction experience
- At least 5 years in an owner's representative
- Prior experience on EPC contractor side
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and rotating schedules as project demands require
- Current OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications
