Job Summary
Provide support for the Site Manager in implementing hazardous waste operations at the AstraZeneca Discovery Centre, managing chemical waste processes and completing regulatory and internal documentation. Liaise with laboratory facility suppliers and third-party disposal facilities to ensure safe presentation and compliant removal of waste, while managing hazardous waste storage areas. Assist with daily operations and task-specific procedures for the collection, accumulation, treatment, packaging, and dispatch of all waste materials. Requires an HNC or degree in Chemistry, valid driving licence for a 3.5t van, and knowledge of COSHH and health and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Ideally HNC or Degree qualification in Chemistry or relevant science degree, or A-Level in Chemistry
- An ability to overcome problems and find solutions independently
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn
- Numerate, literate and computer literate
- Knowledge and/or experience of hazardous waste
- COSHH and health and safety understanding
- Valid driving licence
- Comfortable driving a 3.5t van
- Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers
- Proof of right to work in Ireland (for EU/EEA nationals)
- Current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland (for non-EU/EEA nationals)
