Job Summary

Hands-on Site Autonomy Engineer responsible for supporting the operational AV fleet on-site at designated locations. You will work closely with electromechanical and software elements of the system to ensure successful launches and safe autonomous operation. Key duties include coordinating vehicle upfits for fleet upgrades, debugging electrical/mechanical issues, performing on-site sensor calibrations and feature testing, building and maintaining local mapping assets, performing preventative maintenance, recording issues and resolutions, assisting in testing autonomous operation to meet safety and rider comfort standards, implementing hardware changes in the field, communicating issues and successes to the engineering team, performing data acquisition via the vehicle sensor suite, coordinating on-site configuration and deployment of autonomous technology, and assisting with fleet cleanliness and demo readiness. Ideal candidates will demonstrate impeccable discretion with confidential information, an agile startup/engineering mindset, strong written/verbal/presentation skills, high attention to detail, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for self-driving cars and their impact on the world. Qualifications emphasize a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), Linux experience, the ability to read schematics, knowledge of wire harnesses, and a safety-first approach, with additional emphasis on systems thinking, Git/GitHub/Gitlab proficiency, and a valid U.S. driver’s license.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or relevant experience
  • Experience with Linux computing environments
  • Ability to read electrical/mechanical schematics
  • Knowledge of wire harnesses and mechanical subsystems
  • Ability to debug and modify mechanical/electrical systems
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical systems
  • Systems-level thinking
  • Experience using Git and GitHub or Gitlab, or ability to learn
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
