Job Summary
Lead the immunogenomic program by selecting autoimmune diseases for project development and directing primary research using fluorescent sorting, single-cell DNA/RNA sequencing, and whole genome sequencing. Design experiments on patient samples, prepare proposals for competitive funding as lead or co-investigator, and mentor junior staff and students. Oversee assay development and validation while maintaining knowledge of antibody/TCR repertoire analysis and personalized medicine. This two-year fixed-term role within the Goodnow Lab at Garvan expands research into rogue clones across common polyclonal autoimmune diseases, paired with a clinical trials program translating findings into rationally designed trials.
Required Qualifications
- PhD degree that has been undertaken in a related area of science
- Extensive experience in key methods including flow cytometry and analysis
- Extensive experience in cell sorting
- Extensive experience in single-cell sequencing
- Extensive experience in RNAseq
- Extensive experience in whole genome sequencing
- Extensive experience in PCR
- Extensive experience in in-vitro cell assays
- PhD and/or postdoctoral research experience leading to publication of high quality first author and/or senior author and multi-author papers
- Commitment to scientific excellence and integrity
- Experience training and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Ability to develop, manage and maintain internal and external collaborations and relationships
- Highly developed skills in facilitation and meeting leadership
- Highly developed written and verbal communications skills
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to operate independently, develop and troubleshoot assays
- Full working rights in Australia
Desired Qualifications
- PhD degree in molecular immunology or genomics
- Experience in recombinant antibody expression and testing by ELISA
- Experience in histology (immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence microscopy)
