Job Summary

Set up, operate, and manipulate patient care simulators, multimedia, and computer equipment for nursing simulation courses. Program simulators, prepare scenario props, and create moulage to model physiological responses per faculty specifications. Troubleshoot simulator, media, and computer equipment malfunctions; perform preventative maintenance and repairs. Maintain laboratory schedules, inventory, and accurate patient charts while ensuring compliance with institutional and accreditation standards. Assist instructors with virtual clinical scenarios, recording, playback, and debriefing technology. Provide technical recommendations for simulation improvements and research purchasing options for new lab equipment and software.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • One year of full-time experience in the programming, operation, and maintenance of simulation based medical learning systems
  • Successful completion of a patient care simulator training program
  • One year of full-time experience in direct patient care
  • Current valid certification in a health related field
  • Knowledge of patient care simulation technologies and applications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of simulation technologies, AV systems, learning technologies, and healthcare training software
  • Knowledge of technical principles related to simulator hardware, software, and integrated simulation systems
  • Knowledge of specialized computer software used in nursing and allied health professions
  • Knowledge of new developments in the field of human patient simulation learning
  • Knowledge of standard computer software applications
  • Knowledge of basic inventory and material storage procedures
  • Knowledge of recordkeeping procedures
  • Skill in set up and operation of patient care simulation and related multi-media and computer equipment
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving skills to resolve issues related to patient care simulation scenarios
  • Ability to troubleshoot patient care simulator, multi-media and computer equipment problems
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with nursing faculty and students
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to meet schedules and deadlines

Desired Qualifications

  • One year of full-time experience in direct patient care (alternative path to certification requirement)
  • Training and/or experience with patient simulation equipment and related multi-media equipment
  • Knowledge of new developments in the field of human patient simulation learning
