Job Summary
Coordinate and develop moldflow and solidification analysis; create and update 3D CAD models; perform CAE analysis and contribute to Product Launch to improve casting process performance. Support tooling/design in optimized gating for iron, aluminum, and steel castings; use Creo, SolidWorks, SpaceClaim or OnShape for mold design; apply Magmasoft/ProCast/EKK for mold flow simulation and defect prediction; provide technical input in new product start-up meetings to meet quality and cost goals; communicate with customers and production to ensure satisfaction; liaise between customer and manufacturing to resolve mold flow questions; conduct R&D using mold flow and solidification software; validate designs against actual casting results; engineer prototype and production tools for sand and investment casting; optimize CAD files for molding and casting processes; adhere to Pattern Work Instructions; provide engineering support to molding operations; 10% travel within US, Canada and Mexico.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials engineering or related engineering field
- 5 years of progressive post bachelor's experience as a simulation engineer in a foundry environment
- 5 years of experience in mold flow and solidification analysis software
- 1 year of experience in CAD Software such as Solid Works
- 5 years of experience using Magmasoft, Procast or EKK
- 3 years of hands-on experience in casting and simulation
- Certificates of training to use Magmasoft, EKK, Solidworks
