Job Summary
Transcriber will convert audio and video recordings into written Mandarin text on-site in Glendale, CA, adhering to client-specific conventions and formatting guidelines. Responsibilities include listening to recordings, transcribing accurately, following domain conventions, proofreading, maintaining confidentiality, meeting deadlines, and suggesting process improvements. Required skills include 40 WPM Mandarin typing, strong grammar and punctuation, ability to learn client style guides, proficiency with Mac/PC, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace, and the ability to work 8-40 hours per week on-site. Minimum education is a high school diploma or equivalent; must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship). Must be 18+, with reliable transportation to on-site facilities, and able to pass a language assessment. The role is project-based/temporary with flexible scheduling and on-site requirements.
Required Qualifications

- Typing speed of 40 WPM in Simplified Mandarin (cmn_hans_cn) or higher is preferred
- Excellent listening, grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills in Simplified Mandarin
- Ability to learn client-specific style guides and domain conventions
- Ability to read and understand audio and video content for accurate transcription
- Proficiency with Mac and PC platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace
- Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Minimum age 18 years or older
- Reliable transportation to commute to on-site facilities
- Ability to pass a language assessment test
- Ability to understand a wide range of accents and dialects
- Experience with transcription or linguistics training is a plus
- Knowledge of client-specific Written Domain Conventions and “clean room” policies
