Job Summary
Conduct individual skills coaching and plan regular practice schedules for grades 8 through 12. Manage the scouting program, screen and assign assistant coaches, and coordinate with the Athletic Director to schedule interscholastic contests. Enforce discipline, sportsmanship, and eligibility rules while monitoring facility safety and student attendance during road trips. Maintain comprehensive records including athlete lists, equipment inventories, and insurance documentation. Represent the district in media relations and booster club partnerships.
Required Qualifications
- New Mexico Teaching License with a Coaching Endorsement
- Five years of experience in teaching
- Demonstrated interest and aptitude for performing the task(s) of Head Coach
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions
- Knowledge and training in first aid procedures
- Must know how to properly operate, or be willing to learn to operate, all multimedia equipment including current technology
- Must know how to operate or be willing to learn to operate whirlpools, weight machines, and sports aid equipment
- Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality
- Flexibility and patience are required
- Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision
- After hours work may be required
- Must be able to work under stressful conditions
- Be knowledgeable of rules and regulations regarding his/her sport as presented in the NMAA handbook
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the athletes to participate in their particular sport(s) is preferred
