Job Summary
Silicon Photonics Engineer to drive design and implementation of next-generation photonic integrated circuits across the full development cycle—from concept to tapeout and verification. Focused on complex switching circuit applications, the role requires transitioning between theoretical modeling and practical implementation within foundry constraints, collaborating with device, hardware, and systems teams, supporting tapeouts and PDK/software development, and producing comprehensive tapeout documentation. Strong emphasis on photonic device physics, layout realization, and quantitative problem solving, using tools such as Lumerical, IPKISS, gdsfactory, and Python.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Physics
- 5 years of relevant work or academic research experience in integrated photonics
- Strong computational and analytical skills applied to photonic device design and performance evaluation
- In-depth knowledge of photonic devices, performance metrics, and testing techniques
- Experience with photonic design using commercial software such as Lumerical
- Photonic layout experience using IPKISS, gdsfactory, or equivalent
- Extensive experience with Python for scientific applications and data analysis
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
