Signal Integrity Lab Technician

Job Summary

Conduct S-parameter characterization of cable assemblies and backplane connectors using Vector Network Analyzers up to 70 GHz. Set up, calibrate, and maintain precision RF test equipment including probes, fixtures, and time-domain accessories. Execute standard and custom test procedures to validate insertion loss, return loss, NEXT/FEXT, impedance, and crosstalk performance. Assist engineering teams by providing accurate measurement data for new product development and customer reports. Prepare technical documentation including test logs and summary reports. Troubleshoot test setups and connections to ensure data integrity. Support process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and collaborate on root-cause investigations. Maintain a safe and organized lab environment while handling sensitive equipment with precision.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or related field; or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Hands-on experience operating VNAs (Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with RF calibration methods (SOLT, TRL, ECal, fixture de-embedding)
  • Strong understanding of transmission line theory, impedance control, and high-frequency signal behavior
  • Proficiency with data handling tools (Excel, MATLAB, or similar)
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow structured test processes
  • Ability to repeatedly connect/disconnect threaded cable connectors using precision torque or static wrenches
  • Fixturing of test samples requiring use of hand tools and lifting up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and test plans

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience in high-speed interconnect or cable/backplane testing preferred
  • Knowledge of differential signaling, PAM4, and compliance test methodologies preferred
  • Familiarity with TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) and other signal integrity test methods preferred
  • Technical curiosity and eagerness to learn advanced test methods
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with ability to work independently
  • Commitment to delivering accurate, repeatable, and timely test results
