Job Summary
The role involves effectively interpreting between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English, maintaining compliance with any licensure and certification requirements, and adhering to Sorenson policies and ethical guidelines. Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of the fast-paced, regulated environment typical of the Video Relay Service industry. Additional responsibilities include completing assigned tasks on time, supporting colleagues in a team setting, and enhancing interpreting skills through ongoing education. Flexibility in scheduling and attendance is crucial.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to pass required skills assessment
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools and to handle other computer components
- Regular and predictable attendance
Desired Qualifications
- Interpreter certification (as required by local regulations)
- 3 years’ experience working as an interpreter
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must be able to work at least one shift either Monday, Friday or Saturday
