Job Summary

Conduct ASL and spoken English interpretation for Deaf consumers across multiple locations, adapting to onsite and remote settings. Deliver services for Video Relay Service (VRS) and other communication access needs while adhering to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct. Maintain compliance with licensure requirements, use technology for accurate billing and reporting, and provide mentoring to intern students when assigned. Work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision and remain flexible for assignment changes.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in ASL
  • Ability to pass our required skills assessment
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Interpreter certification (as required by local regulations)
  • Ability to travel independently in the metropolitan area
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Valid driver's license
  • Person vehicular insurance at the minimum state required level
  • Ability to effectively interpret between ASL and spoken English
  • Ability to effectively interpret between ASL, Tactile American Sign Language, other forms of visual communication, and written English
  • Ability to adhere to Sorenson policies and procedures, and the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to meet performance and customer service expectations with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain, as applicable, compliance with any national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the various interpreting needs in the community setting
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment in a variety of settings and locations
  • Ability to use technology for accurate reporting for billing, scheduling and service evaluation
  • Ability to demonstrate a willingness and ability to complete additional and other duties as assigned
  • Ability to be prompt and prepared for each interpreting engagement
  • Ability to be flexible with assignment changes

Desired Qualifications

  • An associate's or bachelor's degree
  • 3 years' experience working as an interpreter
