Job Summary
Sorenson Communications seeks part-time interpreters to provide high-quality interpretation services for Deaf consumers. Essential responsibilities include interpreting between ASL and spoken English, adhering to policies and procedures, and delivering excellent customer service. The role requires knowledge in ASL, an ability to work in various settings, flexibility to meet community needs, and compliance with licensing and certification requirements. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, possess interpreter certification as per local regulations, and have the ability to travel independently. Additional preferred qualifications include an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, and experience working as an interpreter.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in ASL
- Ability to pass our required skills assessment
- A high school diploma or GED
- Interpreter certification (as required by local regulations)
- Ability to travel independently in the metropolitan area
- Where driving is required – access to a vehicle, valid driver’s license, and person vehicular insurance at the minimum state required level
Desired Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience working as an interpreter (preferred, but not required)
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree (preferred, but not required)
Additional Requirements
- All applicants must take and pass a screening for verification of skill sets in order to deliver effective services.
- Candidates must display a wide continuum of language skills in American Sign Language and English
