Job Summary
Oversee daily shuttle operations at the VA Medical Center, including scheduling vehicle inspections, managing preventative maintenance, and conducting pre/post trip checks. Supervise a team of drivers while ensuring fleet compliance with safety regulations and contractual obligations. Handle incident response for fleet issues, reduce unnecessary expenses, and report performance and finances to upper management. Assist in hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions, and properly schedule shuttles to stay within contracted weekly hours. Maintain vehicles through re-fueling, cleaning, and repairs as needed. Requires a CDL with P endorsement, one year of management experience, and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have a minimum of 1-2 years related experience
- Must pass and maintain a criminal background check and have a clean motor vehicle record
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must possess strong customer service skills and the ability to respond calmly and professionally when handling conflict
- Must have the ability to work independently and within established guidelines, follow directions, and work well with others
- Technical capabilities and basic computer knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required
- 1-year management experience, required
- 1-year CDL driving experience, required
- 1-year fleet maintenance and repair experience, required
- Valid/Current Commercial Driver's License with P endorsement
- Valid/Current DOT Medical Certificate
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds at times
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
- Must be able to clearly see during light and dark conditions
- Must be able to bend, kneel, and effectively secure wheelchairs in place with straps
- Must be able to perform detailed maintenance checks under the hood and around engine bay of shuttle bus
