Job Summary
Operate a school van safely to transport students, faculty, and staff to athletic events, intercampus locations, and off-campus destinations. Adhere to strict schedules for timely arrivals and departures while performing daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain a clean, organized environment within the van and enforce school policies regarding passenger conduct and safety. Provide courteous assistance to all passengers, communicate trip changes effectively, and maintain accurate records of mileage and incidents. Uphold hands-free cellular regulations and local traffic laws while managing high-pressure situations with a calm demeanor. Requires a valid California Driver's License, clean driving record, and minimum one year of professional driving experience. Standard hours run Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (3:00 PM on Fridays).
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License
- Must maintain a clean driving record
- Must provide a copy of DMV driving record
- Verification of driving record will be required
- Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining a clean record
- Minimum of 1 year of professional driving experience
- Excellent knowledge of local traffic laws
- Familiarity with athletic event locations
- Familiarity with intercampus routes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact positively with students, parents, faculty, and staff
- Reliable and punctual
- Strong commitment to safety and passenger well-being
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student and employee information
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to assist students with special physical needs if required
- Ability to perform frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to balance
- Ability to reach above and below shoulder level
- Start: M - F by 7:00 AM
- End: M - Th 3:30 PM, F 3:00 PM
Desired Qualifications
- Optional: possess a valid CDL(Commercial Driver License)
- Experience working with children or in a school environment
- Experience driving larger passenger vehicles
- First aid and CPR certification
