Job Summary
Shutter Punchout Technician responsibilities include performing final inspections, adjustments, and repairs on hurricane shutters to ensure proper operation, quality, and customer satisfaction. The role also involves troubleshooting mechanical and installation issues, testing shutter systems for safety and alignment, mentoring Shutter Installer Trainees and Helpers, communicating with customers, coordinating with installation teams, and completing punchout documentation and reports. Strong technical, safety, and communication skills are essential to uphold Storm Smart quality standards on-site.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training or vocational coursework in construction, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 1–3 years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, inspecting, or repairing hurricane shutters, impact products, or similar construction-related systems
- Prior experience performing punchout, quality control, service, or warranty work strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of shutter systems, installation methods, hardware, and adjustment techniques
- Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical or installation-related issues and implement effective repairs
- Experience working directly on job sites in residential or light commercial environments
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and workmanship standards
- Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with customers in a professional, service-oriented manner
- Ability to accurately complete work orders, inspection forms, and service documentation
- Proficiency using hand and power tools and basic mobile field technology
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record meeting company insurance requirements
