Job Summary
The Shredder Operator is responsible for safely operating metal shredding equipment and conveying systems in a metals recycling yard, ensuring optimal production output and equipment reliability. Key responsibilities include monitoring shredder settings, conducting plant inspections, performing routine maintenance, and operating heavy equipment when necessary. The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, be mechanically inclined, and have a desire to learn and advance in their role. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience
- Prior experience as a shredder operator or crusher operator preferred
- Strong personal desire to learn new skills
- Team player
- Dependable and motivated
- Ability to effectively communicate well with others
- Ability to follow instructions in written or oral form
- Ability to learn new tasks as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with shredder or crushing operations
- Mechanical background
- Welding and torch experience
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish)
