Job Summary
Shredder Manager overseeing production, maintenance, and quality control for the shredding department; assigns daily duties to equipment operators, pickers, and cleaners; leads safety initiatives and maintains OSHA-compliant practices; develops and enforces Health & Safety SOPs, trains staff, chairs Safety Committee, and coordinates with multiple managerial roles to optimize plant operations; responsible for budgeting, scheduling, and ensuring timely repairs/upgrades, in addition to overseeing quality control and adherence to internal controls and customer specifications. The role requires strong leadership across shifts, mechanical and manufacturing process knowledge, and experience navigating union environments; Spanish speaking is helpful but not required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5-10 years of manufacturing work experience, with 2-5 years of managerial experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Prior experience managing and leading a work crew
- Maintenance background preferred
- Experience with unionized environment is a plus
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally; proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and production metrics
- Ability to manage department budget, justify capital expenditures, and measure ROI
