Short Term Rental Compliance Clerk

Job Summary
Confirm Short-Term Rental violations and complaints, recording notifications and tracking them to resolution. Maintain a database of rental statistics and facts, while identifying, notifying, and following up on multiple code violation types. Track monthly hotel/motel receipts with the Finance Department and perform data entry by keying information into computer systems and scanning documents. Provide administrative support for boards and committees by coordinating meetings, screening communications, and relaying messages. Serve as the department liaison to distribute and receive routine information from staff, officials, and the public. Prepare forms, reports, correspondence, and statistical documents using advanced MS Word and Excel skills. Maintain file systems, organize documentation, and shred obsolete records in compliance with retention guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 2-3+ years of office administration experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid Georgia driver's license
- Notary Public status
- Ability to accurately type 40 words per minute
- Must take and pass an Advanced Word Processing Test
- Ability to learn, comprehend, and apply all County and/or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position
- Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria
- Must be adaptable to performing under considerable stress when confronted with an emergency
- Ability to deal professionally and fairly in interactions with the public
- Ability to effectively communicate with the public
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other county departments and employees as well as with county officials
- Ability to compare and or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things
- Ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; determine percentages; determine time and weight
- Ability to ensure that all rules, regulations, standards, and ordinances are well documented and kept up to date
- Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information
- Ability to give assignments and/or directions to other members or assistants
- Exceptional MS Word and Excel skills to create complex form documents and spreadsheets
- Advanced user skills required
- Detail oriented, experience no organizing files and creating a file system for maintaining documents and forms
- Must have excellent customer service skills and a positive outlook
- Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds)
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation
- Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Experience preferred creating reports in and using Neumo (formerly GovOS) and Geopermits application skills are a plus
