Job Summary
Conduct pre-transfer risk assessments, inspections, and valve operations to safely move liquids, oils, chemicals, and liquefied gases on or off tank barges. Serve as the Person-In-Charge of the vessel, managing mooring lines, cargo flow adjustments, and communication with dock facility personnel while maintaining incident-free operations. Perform required paperwork, wear all PPE, and exercise Stop Work Authority when safety is uncertain. Work 24-7 call rotations with scheduled off days, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must hold a valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Credential, TWIC, medical card, and driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)
- Coast Guard medical card
- Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Driver's License
- Reliable transportation
- Automotive insurance
- Telephone
- Ability to work on-call including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- 18 years or older
- Legally able to work in the U.S.
- Consistent work history with good references from past employers
- Must complete pre-employment requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug and alcohol testing, and background check
- Speak, write, and read fluent English
- Work outside in all types of conditions for extended periods
- Pass a required medical examination
- Properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Lift, carry, grip, hold, and/or pull up to 75 pounds
- Walk one to six miles per job
- Climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and/or ramps
- Step as much as two feet horizontal and vertical and extend arms through normal range of motion while standing and squatting
