Job Summary
Shop Trailer Mechanic I needed to perform DOT and Preventative Maintenance inspections, light repairs, and trailer-system work in an on-site Cox Fleet shop. Responsibilities include independent parts determination with the Parts Department, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, assisting senior technicians, documenting repairs on Repair Orders using RO and Karmak, coordinating with the Service Writer, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements (DOT, OSHA, EPA). Must be able to operate hand tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks; able to perform moderately heavy labor; strong communication and safety-conscious mindset. ASE certifications are preferred. High school diploma/GED required; tool set ownership; DOT-related training and certifications preferred; must meet DOT/FMCSA requirements and have a valid DOT medical card or be able to obtain one. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- supply a set of hand tools
- OEM training and certifications are preferred
- must comply with DOT/FMCSA regulations
- DOT medical card or DOT physical if required
- 3 year MVR review
- valid state driver’s license
- ASE T8 (PMI) certification preferred
- ASE 608/609 certification preferred
- ability to lift/bend/climb/stand for long periods
- knowledge of trailer parts and systems
- communication skills
