Job Summary
Shop Tech I works under the direction of the Fabrication and Production Manager and is responsible for the interior build-out of the construction of storm shelters and other industrial buildings. Responsibilities include reading a tape measure, using a hand sander and scraper, and inspecting work to ensure metal is deburred correctly; pressure washing and/or sand blasting units; cross-training in various construction skill sets across manufacturing stages; examining products to verify conformance to specifications and quality; inspecting machines and equipment for operational performance; safely operating a forklift to move materials; adhering to safety rules and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Required Qualifications
- Prior job experience preferred
- No prior forklift experience required. Will receive on-the-job training and may be eligible for forklift certification as part of development into higher-level technician roles
- Ability to read a tape measure and practice basic arithmetic
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and provide consistent work
- Works well as part of a team
- Basic computer skills
