Job Summary
Shop Technician responsible for determining the status of service needed for Caterpillar Industrial engines and components and performing advanced repairs, replacements, installations, or rebuilding of parts to restore engine operation. Uses digital, electronic and printed manuals to troubleshoot engines and fuel systems; operates lift trucks and overhead cranes to move parts; disassembles/re-assembles parts and equipment with hand and power tools; tests and calibrates parts and systems; references parts/repair manuals and enters data into order and service-record systems; documents service results and communicates findings in writing. Must meet safety and environmental standards and be able to work on various equipment including engines, pumps, generators, and transmissions; capable of independent work with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Must have a high school education or GED
- Work Experience: Six years of experience with at least two years of experience with Cat equipment
- Must be proficient in at least two mechanical systems (e.g., transmissions, engines, hydraulics) for numerous model lines.
- Physical: Ability to lift/position parts up to 120 pounds and operate hoists/cranes
- Must be able to write repair activities on customer work orders
- Proficiency with computers and computer-based troubleshooting and research
