Job Summary
Shop Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations in a manufacturing environment, manage performance and development of shop personnel, onboard/train new teammates, expedite shop orders to meet production schedules, collaborate across departments to ensure efficient fabrication and assembly processes, maintain safe and organized work areas, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Requires a minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in manufacturing, plus technical familiarity with welding, metal fabrication, or machining, and the ability to read blueprints. The role emphasizes shop-floor leadership, coaching and performance evaluations, cross-functional coordination, safety leadership, and process optimization while maintaining quality standards and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Experience in welding, metal fabrication, or machining is preferred
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to maintain a visible presence on the shop floor (about 2/3 of the shift)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related software
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and process compliance
- Experience with performance management and coaching
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks
