Job Summary
Lead, supervise, and manage the shop's daily operations and hourly personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable performance under the direction of the area manager. Drive continuous improvement in shop activities, technical execution, and quality control. Produce and quality management: execute the scheduled workload according to customer contracts and Elliott's Quality Manual; assign and monitor daily work with qualified personnel and provide complete instructions, resources, and tooling (including calibration); review and approve completed assignments. Provide technical expertise to resolve unforeseen manufacturing problems; advise Engineering of customer product non-conformances; develop monitoring procedures to control costs related to scrap and rework, focusing on root cause elimination; maintain high efficiency levels to ensure high quality, shortest lead-time, and lowest product cost. Safety and Compliance: enforce plant rules and labor contract; implement and supervise safe practices and housekeeping; participate in audits and take corrective actions. Personnel Leadership: administer all personnel functions including hiring, training, development, discipline, discharge, and performance appraisals; maintain high standards of conduct and morale; communicate effectively with other departments for scheduling, shipping, and material handling.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma and advanced technical training or equivalent experience in turbomachinery or manufacturing
- Minimum of four (4) years' experience in heavy equipment/part manufacturing or repair
- Detailed working knowledge of shop practices, repair, safety, personnel, and administrative procedures
- Technical knowledge must include manual machining, assembly, manufacturing processes, and shop floor control
- Welding and heat treatment knowledge is desirable
- Excellent supervisory, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills
