Job Summary
Quality Control and Safety Inspector in Maguire's fabrication shop overseeing weld quality, safety, and training. Responsibilities include tracking material/welds with Quality Control Travelers, identifying and stopping poor quality work, tracking x-rays of inspected welds, ensuring compliance with welding and fitting SOPs, inspecting painted material for defects, maintaining clean and organized work areas, enforcing shop safety standards, providing toolbox talks and safety training (Overhead Crane, Forklift, etc.), assisting in creating/implementing fabrication safety SOPs and welding procedures, collaborating with leadership to identify and correct hazards, conducting regular safety inspections, assisting with injuries (First Aid or Work Comp), conducting and grading applicant and in-house weld tests, communicating quality expectations, keeping welder certifications current, and providing ongoing training. The role requires High School Diploma or GED and at least three years of supervision experience in production welding, with proficiency in ASME Code interpretation and welding documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of three years of experience in production welding supervision
- Knowledge of fabrication process and techniques
- Knowledge of welding techniques and materials
- Proven experience in getting work done through others in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as ASME Code, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials
