Job Summary
Perform TIG and related welding on process piping, hydronics, and pressure vessels to ASME and B31 codes. Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols; set up fixtures and weldment fixturing; operate shop machines and overhead/jib cranes; perform X-ray quality welds; ensure welds meet specifications and maintain equipment. Collaborate with fabricators, foremen, and superintendents to maintain schedule, uphold safety, and continuously improve welding processes. Maintain welder certification per customer and company procedures; contribute to training of other fabricators and welders.
Required Qualifications
- Five years of welding experience (minimum) with TIG welding emphasis
- Three years welding experience minimum preferred
- Familiarity with welding on rotator
- Knowledge of TIG welding; MIG and ARC welding experiences preferred
- Must be capable of proficiently passing 6G FCAW weld test
- Must be capable of passing 6G GMAW weld test within one week of hire; SMAW and GTAW skills highly desired
- Able to provide hand tools within 60 days of hire (e.g., hammer, pliers, channel locks, sockets, tape measure)
- Able to meet production goals within 90 days
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, weld symbols, and BOMs
- Ability to perform X-ray quality welds on process piping, hydronics, and pressure vessels
- Maintains weld machine and ensures safety and cleanliness
