Job Summary
Shop Mechanic responsible for repairing and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline vocational trucks. Reads job orders and observes equipment in operation to determine malfunctions and plan procedures. Installs ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts. Replaces gas or diesel engines. Checks guards, loose bolts, and safety devices; lubricates and services vehicles. Fabricates lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices from schematic drawings. Performs collision repair, sand, prep, and paint; completes standard maintenance and ensures state inspections are met for cars, trucks, and trailers. Other duties as assigned. Requires OSHA safety compliance and strong customer service and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in diesel mechanics or a related field OR 2 years of related experience and/or training
- Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one year
- Clean driving record
