Job Summary
Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles and equipment, including utility construction machinery such as digger derricks, man-lifts, truck-mounted cranes, directional drills, bulldozers, trailers, and heavy-duty diesel trucks. Requisition new or replacement parts and equipment while performing inspections and preventive maintenance on all assigned vehicles. Set up new equipment and vehicles, prepare and maintain records and reports, and establish effective working relationships with internal employees and outside agencies. Safely drive various vehicles and transport equipment, conducting pre- and post-trip inspections and obtaining necessary permits and licenses. Requires a Class A CDL, valid driver's license, safe driving record, and own tools. Works 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday and 8-hour Friday.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience and/or training in maintenance and repair of trucks and/or heavy equipment
- education in diesel technology or related field
- a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position's duties
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have or be able to obtain a class A CDL
- DOT medical card
- safe driving record
- valid driver's license according to legal requirements
- Experience with power tools
- experience with hand tools
- diagnostic equipment
- operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes
- mechanic design and fabrication
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Must have own tools

- Subject to the Company's DOT Substance Abuse Testing Program

- Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance
- Familiar with mechanical design and fabrication
- Experience with electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems
- Skills including the use of power and hand tools
