Job Summary
Perform preventative maintenance on the company fleet, including changing tires, oil, and transmission fluid, while executing tune-ups, brake jobs, and repairs on diesel, gas, and small engine equipment. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, A/C, brake, fuel, and hydraulic systems using computerized test equipment and calibration devices to identify malfunctions. Test repaired equipment for compliance with operating specifications and manage service documentation and parts ordering. Maintain a clean shop and yard, moving equipment and loading/unloading materials as needed. Monitor operations to ensure health and safety standards are met and assist with other job positions as requested. This role requires a CDL Class A license, extensive diesel experience, and the ability to work in varying weather conditions with exposure to fumes and noise.
Required Qualifications
- 2 or more years of diesel, mechanical and automotive experience
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, electronic controls, and computer based diagnostic systems
- Must be able to read, interpret, and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics along with service manuals
- Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards
- Working knowledge of construction site safety, truck maintenance, and road safety regulations
- Must be able to work with others to achieve company results
- Have the ability to think critically to analyze information and make sound decisions
- Effective communication with other mechanics, truck drivers and field personnel
- Must have reliable transportation to be at work when scheduled
- Must be able to travel
- Must wear proper attire at all times including safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image
- Continuous mental and visual attention is necessary to safely and effectively complete work tasks
- Must own and maintain own set of tools and toolbox
- Must be able to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to perform essential tasks in less than favorable conditions
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel fumes, vapors, dust, grease, and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment
- Must be able to work with others to achieve company results
- Have the ability to think critically to analyze information and make sound decisions

Desired Qualifications
- Heavy automotive experience
- CDL Class A license
- Good driving record and insurable by vehicle insurance company
- Ability to perform repairs and maintenance in the field and shop settings
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools
- Basic Computer Skills (email and web browser)
