Job Summary
Read shop drawings and production instructions to verify correct web, flange, or plate material selection. Measure, position, and stage structural steel components while using tape measures to ensure accuracy. Operate plate-pulling, plate-processing, and pull-through welding equipment to assemble and weld steel web and flange components. Set up and monitor assigned machinery, operate overhead cranes to load and move steel, and inspect completed components for alignment and defects. Maintain proper material traceability, perform routine equipment inspections, and report malfunctions to supervisors. Work the night shift in a clean, organized, and safe work area, adjusting equipment within established procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read or learn to read shop drawings and production prints
- Ability to accurately use a tape measure
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn specialized fabrication equipment
- Strong attention to measurements, material identification and quality
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work safely around heavy steel and moving machinery
- Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision and collaborate with the production team
- Ability to successfully complete any required machine or welding assessment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, machine operation, welding or structural steel fabrication
- At least one year of MIG welding experience
- Experience operating overhead cranes or lifting devices
- High school diploma or GED
